Today, I wanted to show you this lovely wool skirt that I got for $3.00. It is a deep burgundy color, or maybe a cross between a burgundy and aubergine - I can't really decide. Its a lovely, long length that is so hard to find these days in a modern store and even though its not vintage, I feel like it lends itself nicely to a 30s or 40s style. Or to borrow a phrase from my friend, Jessica, of Chronically Vintage, it is vintage appropriate.
I paired it with a light pink blouse with a pussy bow and glammed it up a bit with a faux pearl bracelet and brooch. The shoes you've seen before here and here.

Oh i love your blouse, I want to find one like that for me. Details are perfect, brooch, pearls. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I would like to find more blouses like it too.
DeleteYou look great, the brooch really snazes up the look.
ReplyDeleteIts one of my favorite brooches, I wear it quite often.
DeleteVery lovely! I like that you added a brooch to the belt area.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanna!
DeleteGorgeous! I love the brooch with the dark plum skirt :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I really love the color of this skirt.
DeleteLovely outfit! I need to add longer skirts to my collection.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to find longer skirts nowadays. Seems like everything in the stores are above the knees anymore and I have such long legs that even if they are supposed to be longer, they're usually short on me. So, its really nice when I find one like this.
DeleteI really love that you added a brooch to your skirt waist band! What a neat idea. I never would have thought of that. Definitely going to try sometime.
ReplyDeleteCute ensemble. I tend to favor vintage appropriate or vintage inspired pieces over actual vintage items because of the price and sizing.
Usually when looking at true vintage, I find pieces that I absolutely love and even if they are within my budget, they will be too small for me. But at the same time, some reproduction pieces or even retro inspired pieces are more expensive than the actual vintage pieces.
DeleteWhat an absolutely beautiful, elegant ensemble. You look marvelous, dear lady! I adore the length of that skirt, as well as the sophisticated hue. What a terrific find! (Three big cheers for thrifting while on the road!)
